The Situation

A slow-moving front lies over the North Island, and should move off to the northeast later today. In the meantime, a large trough over the Tasman Sea is moving onto the South Island, and is followed by a strong southwest flow that should spread over the country on Friday. Southwesterlies are expected to ease slightly on Sunday.
