The Situation
A deep subtropical low moves south to lie west of the South Island today, with an associated front moving across the country. Tomorrow, the low continues to move southwards and crosses the southern South Island.On Saturday, a weakening front over Bay of Plenty is expected to move away to the southeast, while a weak ridge of high pressure briefly moves over New Zealand. On Sunday, a low over the Tasman Sea approaches the South Island, and is expected to cross the northern South Island on Monday, followed by a strong southwest flow.
