The Situation
A front moves northwards off the upper North Island today, followed by a ridge of high pressure, which remains over Aotearoa New Zealand tomorrow.On Tuesday, a northwesterly flow becomes established over the South Island ahead of an approaching front from the west. By Wednesday, the front moves onto the South Island and progresses northward, with a southerlies flow following behind it, while a weak ridge is still in effect over the North Island. On Thursday, the front weakens as it advances over the lower North Island while a ridge of high pressure builds across the South Island.
