Gale warning in effect for Puysegur, Foveaux and Chatham Islands

The Situation

A ridge of high pressure extends onto central New Zealand today while southwesterlies ease. A front moves onto the lower South Island on Sunday, and then becomes stationary there as the ridge holds strong over the rest of the country. The front moves up the South Island on Tuesday while weakening, while a complex low approaches from the Tasman sea.
