The Situation
On Sunday, a complex trough approaches from the Tasman Sea with fronts associated with this trough. This brings a strong and moist northwesterly flow to the South Island and central New Zealand. The front weakens as it crosses central New Zealand on Monday,The weak front over northern New Zealand moves away to the east on Tuesday, and is followed by a ridge of high pressure. The ridge moves away to the east on Wednesday and a low pressure system approaches from the Tasman Sea on Thursday.
