The Situation
Today, a ridge of high pressure lies across New Zealand. The ridge weakens on Sunday and retreats to the North Island. Meanwhile, a weakening front reaches the South Island early Sunday morning, then stalls over southern parts of the South Island on Sunday afternoon.On Monday and Tuesday, high pressure lies to the east, extending a ridge over the country, while a deepening low remains slow-moving over the Tasman Sea. On Wednesday, the low and associated front approach slowly from the Tasman Sea.
